Backbiting

Backbiting means negative chat, energy consuming, not empowering. Some experts name these persons as serpentines. It's dangerous like serpentine sting.

Al-Baqara (The Cow) 2:83
AND LO! We accepted this solemn pledge from [you,] ' the children of Israel: "You shall worship none but God; and you shall do good unto your parents and kinsfolk, and the orphans, and the poor; and you shall speak unto all people in a kindly way; and you shall be constant in prayer; and you shall spend in charity. And yet, save for a few of you, you turned away: for you are obstinate folk!

Al-Hujurat (The Dwellings) 49:12
O you who have attained to faith! Avoid most guesswork [about one another] for, behold, some of [such] guesswork is [in itself] a sin; and do not spy upon one another, and neither allow yourselves to speak ill of one another behind your backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, you would loathe it! And be conscious of God. Verily, God is an acceptor of repentance, a dispenser of grace!

Most of the sins of the children of Adam are on their tongues; Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) took hold of his tongue and said: “Restrain yourself from this.”

Hazrat Ali ibn Abu-Talib — 'A fool's mind is at the mercy of his tongue and a wise man's tongue is under the control ofhis mind.'

[See the bad inside yourself, and see the good inside others. Imam Ali AS

When you point one finger, there are three fingers pointing back to you. Jesus Christ
One day Jesus and his disciples were walking in the old city, which had very narrow streets. They came across the carcass (the dead body of an animal) of a dead dog. The dog had been dead for a long time, and its rotten stench (a strong and very unpleasant smell) filled the whole alley (backstreet). The disciples of Jesus held their noses, picked up the hem of their robes, and tiptoed around the dead creature. One of them said: “Whew ... piff! What a horrible stench!” Another one said: “The very sight of this makes me sick to my stomach.” One by one they made their way past the dead creature, even as others in town gathered around the carcass to further remark on its hideousness (ugly).
Jesus, and Jesus alone, stopped by the dead dog. He knelt down, and lovingly gazed at the dog. After a long pause, he finally said: “Praise be to God, what beautiful teeth this creature has.”

Hazrat Yousuf AS was only 17, when his brothers threw him in empty well and then sold to a caravan heading towards Egypt. When he saw them again after 22 years of separation, he didn't mentioned to them. He never cried on what happened to him but tried his best all the time. The prisoner who forget him for 7 years, he didn't made him realize.

The Proper Use of the Tongue; Here are some good uses of the tongue:

1. To calm anger.

2. To disperse knowledge.

3. To rebuke [express sharp disapproval or criticism of (someone) because of their behavior or actions] sin. Think about wounds of friend (truth); but the kisses of enemy (flattery)

4. To encourage others

Common Sins of the Tongue

1. Talking too much. Some people talk too much, "motor mouth, chatterbox," etc. Such speech pours out foolishness

2. Whispering and talebearing. Whisperers and talebearers dig up evil stories about things which others have committed so they have something to tell on that person. Also, they tell secrets. As a result, they wound people, inflicting pain with their tongue, and separate friends. Talebearers and whisperers are fools.
[An-Nisa (The Women) 4:114
NO GOOD comes, as a rule, out of secret confabulations - saving such as are devoted to enjoining charity, or equitable dealings, or setting things to rights between people: and unto him who does this out of a longing for God's goodly acceptance We shall in time grant a mighty reward.

Al-Mujadilah (The Disputation) 58:7
ART THOU NOT aware that God knows all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth? Never can there be a secret confabulation between three persons without His being the fourth of them, nor between five without His being the sixth of them; and neither between less than that, or more, without His being with them wherever they may he. But in the end, on Resurrection Day, He will make them truly understand what they did: for, verily, God has full knowledge of everything.]

3. Lying falsehood.

4. Flattery. Some people flatter a person when in his presence and then attack and destroy him behind his back.

5. Angry words stirring up anger

6. Sarcasm Bites; Lip bite, biting tongue

7. Filthy stories.

If you are passing by a hospital, have you ever thought, let me replace my knee. In the same way, we must take care of tongue; where to use and where not!

Al-Furqan (The Criterion) 25:28
Oh, woe is me! Would that I had not taken so-and-so for a friend!
