Action Faking
Action Faking Reasons:
1) We don't think we can reach the goal, we are perfectionist
2) We are trying to impress others, looking for external validation
3) We want to get people off our back
4) The goal is less meaningful to us than we initially thought
5) The goal itself seems too hard to reach. we are lazy or overwhelmed
6) We are secretly afraid of change; we want to stick with the same routine
We have to be honest to ourselves
How can we make real and meaningful changes to our life
1) Contemplation; determining rewards, risks, pros and cons
2) Preparation and determination, planning (Its mixed with the confusion of time wasting)
3) Action
Even slow and consistent progress is better than action faking.
Change is participation with maintenance. It needs some degree of effort.
Example of weight loss with healthy eating, exercise for several months and then quit, make no sense.
We feel, change is impossible. So we don't try. In fact, we always have have ability to change in any facet of our life.
